Greetings, and welcome to the Dying Scene Record Radar. If it’s your first time here, thank you for joining us! This is the weekly* column where we cover all things punk rock vinyl; new releases, reissues… you name it, we’ve probably got it. Kick off your shoes, pull up a chair, crack open a cold one, and break out those wallets, because it’s go time. Let’s get into it!

Check out the video edition of this week’s Record Radar, presented by Punk Rock Radar:

Seattle pop-punk legends(!!!) Sicko have reissued all four of their records! These have been remastered and feature bonus tracks, and each record is available on two color variants: one solid color and one splatter. Go here to get in on the fun.

French melodic punks Raincheck will be releasing their debut LP Highbro Lowbro on October 15th. You can get it on two beautiful splatter color variants (limited to 250 copies each) from Punk Rock Radar (US), Cat’s Claw Records (UK), and a bunch of other labels. Check out the latest single “Deal’s Gone Bad”:

Record Radar regulars Less Than Jake’s latest appearance is catalyzed by a new Hello Rockview cassette reissue popping up on their merch store. This is available on three colors – yellow, blue, and pink – and the J Card borrows some artwork from Rockview’s recent 25th Anniversary vinyl reissue. Though it’s worth noting this doesn’t seem to include any of the bonus tracks that were on the aforementioned vinyl reissue.

More Less Than Jake! Borders and Boundaries is getting some much needed love with Fat giving the album its first new pressing in 12 years. The only place you can get this yellow marble color variant (for now) is at the final NOFX shows in San Pedro, CA that are happening – checks watch – right now! Or you can fork over $110 to the flippers on discogs and ebay, but why would you want to do that? By the way, slightly noteworthy, Borders and Boundaries turns 25 next year.

Though they’re retiring from touring (playing their final show tonight actually), NOFX is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to draining self-control lacking collectors’ savings accounts. This new color variant of Punk in Drublic – seemingly the NOFX 500th reissue of 2024 – is a Vinyl Me Please exclusive, limited to 500 copies on “Red Nebula Splash” colored vinyl. Also noteworthy is this has a new master courtesy of David Cheppa at Plush Mastering. If you’re a Vinyl Me Please subscriber (why would you do that?) you can either select this as the 1 record you get per month, or buy it for $35 (lol). If you aren’t a VMP subscriber, you can buy it for $45 (LMAO).

A few weeks ago I told you about the 5xLP 25th Anniversary Refused – The Shape of Punk to Come reissue which, at the time, was sold out. I also told you to look out for a second pressing and whaddaya know? There’s a second pressing! It’s not as pretty as that first one, but you can get this purple vinyl variant (limited to 2,000 copies) right here until it, too, ultimately sells out.

Something else I told you about a few weeks ago is the new Dopamines album 80/20, available on various pink-themed color variants from Rad Girlfriend in the US, as well as some non-pink-themed color variants from Brassneck Records in the UK. However! Something I didn’t tell you about (mostly because it wasn’t announced at the time) was the latest pressing of the Dopamines’ Hard Pass: Singles/Rarities 2006-2020 compilation LP. It’s got new cover art and you can get it on Ketchup, Mustard, or random mystery colored vinyl right here.

But wait, there’s more! I also didn’t tell you about the new pressing of Expect The Worst – a record also by the Dopamines! – which you can purchase here on Clear w/ Blue and Orange Splatter, Translucent Orange, Translucent Blue, ooooooor mystery colored vinyl. Holy fuck! That’s a lot of Dopamines records!

Jon Snodgrass has a new record coming out on November 4th, a 2-song 12″ EP called Stoked Ghost. And it’s kinda unclear but it sounds like there’s a full album’s worth of “songs and jingles” tacked onto this as well? Supposedly featuring Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton from the Descendents (and ALL!), Chris from the Flatliners, and many others. Get it on white, clear, and/or black wax here.

Authority Zero is releasing a new 6-song EP Thirty Years: Speaking to the Youth on November 11th. The first single “Lights Out!” is out now; check it out below, it’s pretty bad ass. And you can pre-order the record, but for some reason it’s currently only available from German retailers. Original Product seems to be selling it for less than anyone else. At some point you’ll be able to pre-order from SBAM Records, but I’m just letting you know what your options are if you have the insatiable need to buy it RIGHT NOW.

Montreal punks The Last Mile’s STELLAR 2021 LP Respect the Frequency is getting a much needed vinyl reissue from our friends at Thousand Islands Records. Seriously this record kicks fuckin ass, if you haven’t already heard it, I highly recommend checking it out and grabbing this new pressing here.

German melodic punk band Friends With Boats just released their debut album Bumper Sticker Poetry. You can (and most definitely should) listen to the whole thing down below 👇 and if it tickles your loins as it does mine I recommend grabbing the record on vinyl from their Bandcamp. They’ve got three options to pick from, limited to 50(!) copies each: black, Candy Cane Burst, and Glacial Flour. Also! Fellow Floridians, these Germans are invading in a few weeks, catch one of their shows:

Oct 22 @ The Stamp Bar – Vero Beach
Oct 23 @ Shanghai Nobby’s – Saint Augustine
Oct 24 @ Punk Rock Pizza – Daytona Beach
Oct 27 @ Loosey’s (The Fest!) – Gainesville

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming of old records being pressed on new colors of plastic! Somehow 10 years have passed since The Putz took the Ramonescore world by storm with their debut album Knock It Off, and Eccentric Pop is repressing it for the very first time since 2014. More impressively, I’m pretty sure the $16 being asked for this new pressing of 300 copies on orange vinyl is the same as the original price tag. Eccentric Pop is inflation proof! Praise Travis! Don’t even think about it, just buy this fuckin thing.

A few months ago Sloppy Seconds released a compilation of demos, b-sides, etc. titled Play With Yer Records: Mistakes & Piss-takes Vol 1. Now they’ve announced an ultra special (and equally as expensive) “pink colored slime & Sloppy Seconds logo filled” variant of that same record. This is limited to 100 copies and costs $85! You can get it here. Or you can get the much less pricey pink swirl variant for $25. It’s your money, spend it how you wanna!

The release lineup for Record Store Day Black Friday 2024 has been revealed and – as always – there’s a Ramones record in the mix. The Ramones’ Greatest Hits is being released on vinyl for the very first time(!), with 5,000 copies on transparent red colored wax hitting your local record store‘s shelves on November 29th. Aside from this, I didn’t see any other noteworthy punk or punk adjacent releases on the RSD Black Friday ’24 list.

Well, that’s all, folks. Another Record Radar in the books. Short one this week! As always, thank you for tuning in. If there’s anything we missed (highly likely), or if you want to let everyone know about a new/upcoming vinyl release you’re excited about, leave us a comment below, or send us a message on Facebook or Instagram, and we’ll look into it. Enjoy your weekend, and don’t blow too much money on spinny discs (or do, I’m not your father). See ya next time!
