DS Record Radar: This Week In Punk Vinyl (Blink-182, The Black Pacific, AFI, The Fastbacks, Boris The Sprinkler & More!)

Greetings, and welcome to the Dying Scene Record Radar. If it’s your first time here, thank you for joining us! This is the weekly* column where we cover all things punk rock vinyl; new releases, reissues… you name it, we’ve probably got it. We’ve got a metric fuckton of records to talk about this week so off your shoes, pull up a chair, crack open a cold one, and break out those wallets, because it’s go time. Let’s get into it!

Check out the video edition of this week’s Record Radar, presented by Punk Rock Radar:

Blink-182 is releasing a deluxe edition(!) of their latest record One More Time, featuring 10(!) whole-ass bonus tracks. “Cut Me Off” and “See You” were previously included in the digital version of the album, but the remaining eight tracks are all never-before-heard. If you wanna get this, you’ve got two options – the 2xLP on Blue Balls colored vinyl featuring the original record, and the single bonus-tracks only LP on Red Rocket colored vinyl. And while both are grossly overpriced, it’s worth noting 2xLP’s only like $8 more.

14 years after the release of their self-titled debut album, Jim Lindberg’s The Black Pacific returns with their sophomore effort Here Comes Our Wave. It’s due out September 20th on Dine Alone Records and there are two variants available to pre-order on the label’s webstore; the half black / half white variant is limited to 100 copies (sold out!) and there are 500 copies of clear w/ black splatter variant. Check out the lead single “I Think I’m Paranoid” below 👇

Seattle pop-punk legends The Fastbacks are releasing a comeback album of their own! For WHAT Reason! is the band’s first new record in 25 years. It’s streaming now and you can get it on beautiful red colored vinyl right here.

A few weeks ago I told you the Dopamines were putting out a new record, but I failed to mention the UK Exclusive color variants being released by Brassneck Records! So now I’m telling you about the stunning UK Exclusive color variants of 80/20 that are available to purchase right here, even if you don’t live in the UK! Blue Vinyl with Black Splatter limited to 100 copies; Green & Orange ‘Burning Palms’ Vinyl limited to 200 copies. The cover art’s a different color, too!

We’re nearing the end of August and department stores everywhere have long since stocked their shelves with Halloween decor and 20lb industrial sized bags of diabetes fuel. AFI’s getting in on the fun with a 25th Anniversary reissue of the All Hallow’s E.P. There are two new color variants (though one of them looks an awful lot like the last 20 pressings on various shades of orange), each of which comes housed in a fluorescent jacket with a coffin-shaped poster. And you get a grand total of four songs for the low price of $29.99! Unbelievable value.

You can pick up the Spectral Pink variant from anywhere and everywhere, though Amazon is the cheapest since shipping’s free, while the Lantern Light color variant is exclusive to the AFI webstore. If you’re a smart shopper and you’re fine with the regular, non-fluorescent cover art, you can get the existing pressing on orange colored vinyl for $11.46, also on Amazon.

Speaking of Halloween, Alkaline Trio is reissuing their long out of print Halloween 7″, but it’s been now upsized to an 12″ EP. This was originally released in 2002 as an orange colored 7″ limited to 3,000 hand-numbered copies and has never been repressed – until now! Asian Man has reissued it as a glow in the dark 12″ EP limited to 2,000 copies aaaaand it’s already sold out. If you subscribed to the Asian Man Record Club you’ll be getting a copy of this record in your mailbox soon enough. Anyone else who missed out on the 30-minute pre-order windows is SOL and can wait til these start popping up on Discogs for $200+ in a few months.

Know what Alkaline Trio record isn’t sold out? Their brand new The Sacrifice / At Sickness 7″ featuring two tracks from the recording of their latest album Blood, Hair and Eyeballs. One’s a Matt song, and the other’s a Dan song. The best of both worlds! You can get it on black vinyl (500 copies) and white vinyl (1,500 copies) from the band’s webstore.

Speaking of 7″s (not like that, get your mind out of the gutter you sick fucks), The Copyrights have a new 7″ due out October 18th on Fat Wreck Chords! New Ghosts features four brand new tracks from the Carbondale, Illinois pop-punk stalwarts. Check out the leadoff batter “In There Somewhere” below 👇 and pre-order the 7″ right here 👈

And while we’re on the topic of new records, Columbus, Ohio horror punk band Prime Directive’s new record The Fallout is also due out October 18th on Punkerton Records and they’ve got an absolute assload of vinyl color variants to choose from. Also, CDs! Get your copy here.

Also available to pre-order from our friends at Punkerton Records: Jacksonville, FL pop-punk band Knives’ upcoming album One Cut Away From Love. This one’s due out on November 15th and is also available on a bunch of sick color variants, including black & white split (limited to 50 copies) and white, transparent teal, transparent gold, and pink – all three limited to 100 copies each. Make you pick here.

Ottawa, Ontario’s Fossil Record – a new alternative rock / indy-ish project from members of The Creeps and Crusades – have released their debut LP A Little Weight. You can get it on turquoise and/or black vinyl ((or CD!) (each limited to 150 copies)) from Stardumb Records (EU), Forbidden Beat (Canada), Brassneck Records (UK), The Machine Shop (US), and Endless Detention Records (Australia).

Staying in Canada, the friendly people at Thousand Islands Records just announced a few more bad ass records (what else is new?), including the debut LP from German skate punk band No Guidance! Late to the Party is due out September 20th; check out the bad ass new single “Shores” below 👇 and click this link to grab the record on two bad ass color variants.

Also available to pre-order from the Thousand Islands webstore and due out on September 27th, it’s a special10th Anniversary reissue of Darko’s Sea of Trees EP. What’s special out it, you ask? It’s on gold vinyl! It comes in a gatefold jacket! It’s been remastered! Darko’s 2012 From Trust To Conformity EP has also been remastered and is on the B-Side of this record! You can’t get much more special than that, folks. By the way! This is also available from Lockjaw Records in the UK and Pee Records in Australia.

Here’s another bad ass melodic punk record on kinda-sorta gold-ish colored vinyl. It’s the new record from Australia’s All Hope Remains! Find My Way releases on September 20th and is available to pre-order from Double Helix Records in the US, Pee Records in Australia, and Disconnect Disconnect Records in the UK.

Skate punk supergroup Implants (ft. members of Strung Out, Pulley, Ten Foot Pole, etc.) will be releasing their long awaited sophomore LP Annihilation on October 18th via Cyber Tracks Records, but that’s not what I’m talking about today! (mainly because it’s not available to pre-order for some reason) But what is available to order from Cyber Tracks’ webstore is this new sweet-ass new color variant of the band’s much lauded 2013 debut LP From Chaos to Order. This pressing on neon green / pink splatter is limited to 100 copies.

Cyber Tracks also has a second pressing of the latest 7″ from Steve Caballero’s band Urethane. They’ve got two variants – Grass Green & Burgundy Stripes / Blue Splatter – both which are limited to 100 copies. You can get ’em right here.

The pride of Pasco County, Florida, RATH & The Wise Guys have a new 7″ called In The Mirror out now and limited to 60 copies on random mixed color vinyl. Check that shit out below and get the 7″ here.

The almighty Fishbone’s 1985 self-titled debut EP is back in print for the first time in a decade, and it comes with a full set of demos from the original recording sessions. This 2xLP set comes in a gatefold jacket and is limited to 1,000 hand numbered copies. Did I mention it’s also $50? Sheesh! Get it here.

More ska! Mighty Mighty Bosstones bassist Joe Gittleman’s Kilograms have a new 2-song 7″ releasing September 13th on Rad Girlfriend Records. Check out the B Side “Drop That Guff” below and pre-order the record here.

Pop-punk favorites The Putz have released their new record Too Little, Too Late on Mom’s Basement Records, from whom you can get it on white w/ black splatter colored vinyl, white vinyl, or black vinyl! They also have test press copies, CDs, as well as slipmats and pint glasses bearing the Putz logo. Head on over to the Mom’s Basement store and get your hands on this killer record. I’d also like to mention, it looks like they got some more copies of the new Shivvies LP and 10″, which I highly recommend picking up as well if you share my appreciation of old school pop-punk / Ramonescore.

German punk rock veterans WIZO are celebrating the 30th anniversary of UUAARRGH! with a 2xLP picture disc reissue of the album. Now, we all know picture discs usually sound like absolute hot ass, but don’t lie to yourself and say this shit doesn’t look bad ass. Just look at it! And then when you’re finished looking at it, go here to spend your money on it. Ships September 13th in the year of our lord 2024.

It’s been a hot minute since a non-vinyl release was featured on the Record Radar, but Scottish melodic punk band Bad Year has the distinct honor of ending the other formats’ losing streak with their new album Moancore! A few of my favorite records released so far this year have been out of Scotland, and I’m adding this one to the list. It’s fucking awesome! Moancore is being released on CD and cassette by Punk Rock Radar, Cat’s Claw Records, and Bite These Records. The cassettes come in two colors – Slime Green and Dark Grey – while the CDs are, well, CDs. You can get a bundle with a copy of each format as well. Whatever you do, just buy this album! Do it!

Danzig needs more kitty litter money and he’s dipping into your wallet with this physical release of both 7″ and 12″ singles for a song he recorded for a movie soundtrack 13 years ago. “Black Hell” was featured in The Hangover Part II and apparently someone at Cleopatra Records realized it had never been released on a physical format and went hog wild with 5 color variants on the 12″ version of this and 3 more 7″ color variants. And for $30 more than the base rate, you can get a signed 7″ copy! Click this link to buy it, you fucking idiot.

Chuck Ragan, frontman of Punk Rock Radar favorites Hot Water Music, has a new solo record coming out in October. Though its title sounds like it belongs on the cover of a Taylor Swift album, Love and Lore is being pressed on considerably less color variants than Ms. Swift’s records usually are. Regardless, you can get Love and Lore (come on brother, you can’t tell me that doesn’t sound like a Taylor Swift album title) on Half Olive/Half Clear w/ Green Splatter and/or Red w/ Orange & Black Splatter colored vinyl right here.

A Green Bay, Wisconsin institution, Boris the Sprinkler’s 1994 debut album 8 Testicled Pogo Machine turns 30 this year and Hey Suburbia Records is giving it the treatment it deserves with its first vinyl reissue ever! Limited to 500 copies on purple colored vinyl, which is also notable because this had only been released as a picture disc before, and available to pre-order here. Expected to ship starting September 20th.

Well, that’s all, folks. Another Record Radar in the books. Short one this week! As always, thank you for tuning in. If there’s anything we missed (highly likely), or if you want to let everyone know about a new/upcoming vinyl release you’re excited about, leave us a comment below, or send us a message on Facebook or Instagram, and we’ll look into it. Enjoy your weekend, and don’t blow too much money on spinny discs (or do, I’m not your father). See ya next time!
